My journey into natural skincare began long before Leaf & Leather became a brand. I studied complementary healthcare, hair & beauty, aromatherapy, and holistic living, diving deep into the healing power of plants, herbs, and mindful formulations. It all started with my daughter, who struggled with eczema from a young age. I spent years sourcing natural products, trying every cream, butter, and lotion I could find to soothe her skin. The results were inconsistent, and the cost was high—so I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I began creating my own whipped shea butters and oils at home, carefully blending herbs, oils, and botanicals that I had learned about in my studies. Each formulation was intentional, crafted with knowledge and care.
When my son was born in 2017, my mission deepened. His skin was sensitive and prone to irritation, and he had sensory challenges that made bathing overwhelming. I realised it wasn’t just about what I put on his skin; it was everything: the soaps, the lotions, the detergents, and even the clothes he wore. I wanted to create a full sensory-friendly bath experience for him.
